Treerot Strikes Again

The mysterious black dragon known only as Treerot has killed another 280 elves along the Yarsarian border. Stories from the scene describe puddles of bubbling purple sludge where the victims’ bodies used to be. The remains were so horribly deconstructed as to make the corpses unidentifiable.
This attack brings Treerot’s elf tally to 2,101 dead. As of yet, no fairies have been killed in the Yarsarian War. This is thanks to Queen Jillian’s widely known, ironclad protection of fairy folk not only within Sennzia but throughout The ManyRealms as well. Treerot, meanwhile, has slaughtered over two thousand elves.
Surviving witnesses described a cowardly sneak attack by the dragon. One witness claims that Treerot swooped in, blasted a stream of eldritch purple fire on the elves during their morning meal, and quickly fled the scene. In four other similar flyby attacks this year, Treerot has killed 240, 203, 172 and 128 elves. The dragon earned its nickname by devastating the treeline along the border with its eldritch breath, leaving only rotting deadfall in its wake.
Sennzian Marshals have encouraged non-fairy travelers in Yarsaria to watch for rotten trees in the forest and steer themselves well clear of the Greenway. Fairies and some other winged fey, such as pixies, are assured that the Greenway is perfectly safe for them to visit, so long as they observe the same caution as they would traveling to any other unfamiliar location.
