Nyakeshi

Nyakeshi is a young elf woman from Venmouth who entered the Yarsarian military in the hopes of battling dragons. Her father was in the military, and was killed in action by the dragon known as Treerot. Nyakeshi’s exemplary test scores placed her in the intelligence division at the Yarsar Royal Academy, where she excelled.

Nyakeshi trained for two decades before being accepted into The Sephket, which is both a physical building and the name of the Yarsarian military’s national security & intelligence division. Nyakeshi interviewed routinely with Queen Mother Heron Hammercrest, The Sephket’s founder, to verify her suitability for field assignments.

Nyakeshi’s first operation was to “collect” a vampire from Salentis calling himself Lord Borthus. Borthus was suspected of smuggling illegal blood shipments into Venmouth. The matter was left to local Venmouth constables initially. When the charges against Borthus increased to murder after an elf fisherman was found killed, The Sephket assessed the threat and determined that more murders of innocent Yarsarians was likely. The smuggling operation had become a direct threat to the security of Yarsaria and its people. Nyakeshi was called up to resolve the situation. Her commanders warned Nyakeshi that Heron had sent her on a suicide mission, that vampires were very dangerous creatures. Nyakeshi read the details of the fisherman’s heartbroken wife & children, then she researched Borthus’ weaknesses and accepted the assignment.

Three days later, Nyakeshi stumbled in bloodied and beaten, her clothes torn and burned, and she tossed the hollowed out head of Borthus, stuffed with garlic, onto her commander’s desk.

Nyakeshi has undertaken six such “suicide missions” and completed them all, though some just barely. Her most recent assignment was jokingly referred to as her “retirement package” and would either be the cushiest, easiest assignment of her career, or the one that ended her. Heron chose her specifically for it: Nyakeshi was to guard the Queen Mother’s only grandson, Prince Lentarion Ehrenfell, as commander of his PrinceGuard.
