Heron Hammercrest

Heron Hammercrest is an orphan who grew up in poverty on the streets of Yarsar. She became the youngest person to ever be knighted by the crown at the age of roughly 10 or 11, after foiling a Kingplague plot to assassinate Prince Tatharius. She grew up to become the most experienced and highly decorated woman in the history of the Yarsarian military. She was assigned as an elite guard to protect numerous princesses and a queen from other realms. She founded The Sephket, the Yarsarian military’s security & intelligence division. Then, she married King Galdorr and was Queen of Yarsaria for over two centuries. She is the mother of King Ulmond Ehrenfell and the grandmother of Prince Lentarion.

Growing up as an orphan, Heron Hammercrest has no memory of her parents. She never knew or much considered her heritage. For centuries, she was assumed to be a Lydian elf. Now, however, it seems obvious that she is more likely a rare Ageless elf from the realm of Uthvale. As the centuries have passed, those she loves have aged around her, while Heron remains as youthful, agile, strong and sharp-minded as ever.

Heron is tough, hard and disciplined. She has endured many awful, traumatic experiences. She grew up orphaned and homeless, without the love of a mother or father. She fought for her life against starvation and crime on the streets of Yarsar. At the age of approximately 10 or 11, she escaped from unspeakable brutalization at the hands of Kingplague assassins. She lost her firstborn child, Lorthvend, to murderous fanatics inspired by those same people. She watched her husband, King Galdorr, grow old and die. Now she is watching her remaining children grow old, and realizes that she will almost certainly outlive them both.

Heron is tormented by the losses she has experienced, and is driven to eradicate treason in Yarsaria. She is fiercely protective of her sons, Ulmond and Siegur, and splits her time between them. She is incredibly proud of Ulmond and all that he has achieved. She sees much of herself in Ulmond, while her youngest, Siegur, takes more after his father, the late King Galdorr.
