WendiWitch Hollow Theme
Gorrn is a native of the lower Hollow not far from Frightsburg. While exploring in his youth, he travelled up the river trying to find a way to cross. He went far enough up the river to find Halfhand’s Bridge. Seeing an excellent opportunity for profit, he set up shop near the bridge and began charging traveler’s one BonBon each to cross it. Before long, he met Blarg the ogre stonemason. After a case of mistaken identity in trying to charge Blarg access to the bridge for repairs, the two became friends. Gorrn negotiated with Blarg to build him an elegant apartment under the bridge, which Blarg completed very quickly. Before long, Gorrn recruited a rabbitfolk woodcutter named Rimrarque to clear a space for a buildings near the bridge, and used the timber for construction. Deep in a remote wilderness, Gorrn was building up what would eventually become Üllbridge Town. The process of growing the town took many years.
Over the years, Queen Jillian’s gingerbread soldiers came to Üllbridge often, taxing its few residents and savaging the forest to chop vanilla vines. Gorrn knew that the town would need to be free of the Queen’s control in order to reach its full potential. He did not have the power to raise an army, nor did he really believe such a tactic would be successful. He did not have any magic to compel her to grant the land independence. Gorrn began to research the Queen intensely for many more years with the help of his old friend, Bethany Brittlebone.
Gorrn was eventually granted an audience with Queen Jillian and, thinking that he understood her motivations as well as anyone possibly could, he offered her vanilla. Lots of it. In exchange for the Hollow’s independence, the Annual Vanilla Quota (AVQ) was established. Gorrn began recruiting in earnest, attempting to grow the town enough to be capable of delivering what was promised.
Gorrn is a driven individual, a dreamer, and a capable leader. He does not know a lot of things himself, but he knows how to find the individuals who can do what he can’t. He is pretty good at getting them to do it, too. When he is at rest, Gorrn likes to sit in a rocking chair with his mint pipe and listen to the river roar beneath him. He also enjoys celebrating with friends at the tavern drinking ale, and likes having gold coins to spend on fine clothing. He is working on recruiting an excellent tailor and/or clothing designer to establish a shop in town, but has so far been unsuccessful in finding someone suitable who is willing to relocate.
